Need a sturdy deerkiller bumper for a 06 tacoma
« on: Oct 26, 2006, 03:04:02 PM »
So i convinced my parents to get a new tacoma for their new vehicle, and they got a 2006 accesscab with the 2.7l 4cly and a 5spd... 4x4 of course... we live in the mountains where there are a lot of deer on the roads, so we want a very sturdy bumper that can take a hit from a deer at highway speeds and not flinch.  So far we are thinking ARB, because they are realy high quality.  We are open to other suggestions aswell though... so post up some thoughts.
Thanks,
Andy

"Later, I learned that even though I engage 4WD my hubs are not automatically locking? Something about manual locking hubs I think. What's manual mean? I need to read a manual to lock them? lol  So I found these neat autolocking hubs and installed them. Sometimes they dont stay locked while I am backing up, but that's fine because I dont have a backup camera to see where Im going (like our RV) so I just simply dont ever back up"- BigMike

Hansen seems to only have jeep stuff.  ARB is nice for sure, though pricey, same with TJM.  check out:

they have some cool stuff, no pics of new tacomas, but if you talk to them they would probably build you one.

Just hope that the deer doesn't fly up and hit the windshield when you hit it at a high speed.

this is good advice my old man hit a deer in his F-250 and it annihilated the front end of his truck.

Just do like the ranchers do up where I used to live.  Take that nice ARB and weld a few small peices of re-bar sticking out of the front.  Then whatever you hit, you can drag it home for dinner!  :yumyum:  :hammer:
