g-52 or 54 stock in 85 efi?
« on: Aug 24, 2006, 02:27:48 PM »
i thought i had a w-56 trans in my truck and a top shifting transfer case in my truck. but i noticed today that my transfer case isn't top shifting and my tyranny looks like a g-52 , 54.
has that happened  to anyone else? my truck is a longbed efi made in dec of 84 so i was thinking thats why i got the older setup.
my question is , do you guys think i have the g52 or the g54.?

that is a good question.  You might check on the Marlin website.

Checked the Marlin website and it doesn't look like a G Series tranny came EFI.  It says that a W56 came with a 1985 EFI.  Might somebody of swapped out trannies?

if it was supposed to be a W and you got a G, you got screwed.  A G is not all that bad however, I have been using one for a couple of years with no problems.

I have an 85 longbed sr5 with efi. My spec plate says w56, but it has a g52 transmission. I got it used, so I coldn't say for sure if it was changed. Just for info
