would grinding down a toyota shackle to fit the eye of a chevy leaf spring in it? and instead of moving the rear hanger back put the shackle at a better angle to get the 4 inches back.Becasue my shackle angle is straight up and down right now.

wont work man, ive tried it...you either have to double shackle it using the stock chev shackle, or move the mount......unless you move the front hanger 13.5 inches foreward instead of 11, but then you would shorten your wheelbase

You can grind down the shackle a little, but you have to play with the length. If the shackle is too short it will lay flat and collapse against the frame. I have a single shackle about 10" long and it works with the stock chevies

The standard 11" IMO,Don't waste your time with double shackles either. They unload and clank, just make one long shackle, much smoother.

Is it 9" eye to eye? It should be okay if so. remember 45 degrees is a good angle for the shackles \\

Try to stay away from really long or double shackles, they don't work and are unstable. put the weight of you truck on the spring so it flex's out. Then measure the eye to eye length.Take that length and use your shackle to get the degree you want on the mounting point of the frame. If you measure the length of the spring following the curve it will tell you how much that spring will grow when compressed. you can then measure that out to show you the compressed angle of your shackle. Tack the mount in place before welding it and see how it measures out with weight on it. Hope this makes some sense.

How do you people running chevy springs with double and/or super long shackles keep from dragging them on rocks? With 63" long springs and really long shackles you are killing your departure angle. I have 56" ranger springs with a 6" eye to eye shackle with the rear hanger in the stock location running 37" tires and i really have to watch or I'll drag the crap out of my shackles on some steep climbs. I have been in the situation where I was climbing a really steep ledge and my shackles would drag bad enough that I couldn't back off or it would bend my springs. It seems to me that a 63" spring and a 10" long shackle would get hung up everywhere. ??
