Ok, so I picked up some 4" superlift leafs yesterday for the rear of the Migo to eliminate the blocks.  I am currently running 3" blocks and the stock Amigo rear with a support leaf added, and 4" shackles.  I'm wondering if there's any way of knowing (besides installing everything and eyeballing it) how long my shackles need to be for my new leafs to work and eliminate the blocks :silly:

Does that make sense? :hammer:

should be fine, or youll need a little extra length on the shackles to achieve the same height...

is it 4" bolt to bolt on the shackles or 4" longer than stock? (that would be a 2" lift)

if you want some shackles, i jsut took my 2" lifted ones off my truck, they kinda bowed a little bit from overtightening, but they work fine, ijust removed them because i didnt like my truck sitting 4" higher in the back....

The stock ones are 4" long, the ones that came with the springs I believe are about 8" long :headscratch: I didn't measure them  The Amigo springs are an inch longer than toyota stock length springs.... if that helps any :disturbed:

FFC,
Measure the length of your springs eye to eye...measure along the entire arc of the spring.
Then measure the distance between the front spring hanger and the frame mont for the shackle.
Subtract the frame measurement from the spring measurement.  This will be the optimal size for your shackle to give you full extension when the leaf spring is flat.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

Okay.... so I put a "support leaf" in the bottom of the pack and installed the new leafs... with the shackles that came with the springs (8") .... set the stinkin thing down after 7 hours and :yikes: the Migo looks like a scorpion :rofl2: The leafs did not compress AT ALL!!!! :haha: It looks hularious.  The plan is to take out the "support leaf" and keep the shackles and hope that makes the difference I need :crossed:

 It looks so funny :shake:

Ya gotta drop that overload leaf outta there...sheesh, if you switch to the toy overload you might still have to drop the smallest leaf...that thing is up there!

I'll be dropping the two bottom leafs and keeping the shackles... if that still doesn't do the trick I'll go back to the stock shackles.. but I think losing those 2 leafs will do it :crossed:

:headscratch: 2" shackles??

The shakles look about right for those springs, I would avoid going back to the stockers, they will end up at a bad angle...

I don't want to go back to the stock shackles... I picked up some new u-bolts because they were our worst problem last night.  Ended up cutting 3 out cuz they'd either stripped or froze up... I'm hopin to get out there in an hour or so and pull it apart again :crossed:  I want to keep the old shackles cuz they are a LOT stronger than the stock shackles... if not, then I'll just make something in between

I think you will find those shackles will sit right around 45 degrees if you can get the springs down to a reasonable ride height.

Ain't no flexin goin on with the packs the way they are.  I have to take out the 2 leafs I added.  I still don't think I follow with the whole 2" shackles.... I've never seen em so short :screwy:

2 inch shackles would be near worthless...if he means 2 inch longer than stock maybe.
The shackles on there are fine, dump the leaves...do it, DO IT!!!!
MOVE MOVE MOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was talking about the old shackles measuring 4 inches eye to eye, not 4 inch lift shackles...they'd have to be a foot long!  Her new shackles prob the equivalent of and inch to inch and a half of lift.

:werd: You are correct.

I put the 4" lift springs on and the longer shackles to eliminate the 3" blocks that I had as well as the spring over axle and AAL on the stock springs.

Well I did it.  I finally took out the 2 support leafs and it dropped a little bit.  I'm thinkin I have to go with shorter shackles, but I'm better off with the longer ones than the 4 inchers... I think.  For now I'm gonna keep the rear the way it is.
After the roundup I'm gonna move the whole rear end back a few inches.  This spring swap moved the rear forward about 3/4" :ack: Here we go with rear driveshaft angles again :shake:

I got pics of it now that I got the support leafs out so I'll post em if I ever get my :moon: away from my work and home to my own computer

Well, my issue now is that the new pack moved the axle forward.  I plan to flip the leafs around so that they're reversed, thus moving the axle back.  So far my packs are workin fine :gap: We'll see at the roundup though :crossed:
