I always had great luck with BFG All-Terrains, they are spendy but 50,000 miles later you'll be glad you did, not to mention they do extremely well in wet and snowy conditions. P.S. they lasted 50k on my moms 2nd gen 4runner, your truck is probably a little heavier, but I bet if you rotate them regularly you'll still get 40,000
They don't have a 265/65/R17 or this would be an easier choice, see my first post. My dad got close to 60,000 miles on a set of Mud KM tires on his K5 Blazer so I'm sure mileage would be excellent.
The stock size is actually 265/70/R16 which is about 30.5 inch diameter. The BF Goodrich would require about a 1 inch increase in diameter.
Tomorrow I am having a set of Goodyear Fortera Triple Tread tires put on my Tundra. They look really good and should perform very well in everything but dirt, that is what my 85 is for.
