Toyota Rear Axle Widths
« on: Jun 19, 2006, 07:46:26 PM »
Does anybody know the widths for several Toyota rear axles?
I have an 84 rear axle under my 4Runner right now and I was looking to go for an 86+ to match my front width which has 1.5" spacers.  I have a 2003 2wd Tacoma axle I could get and yank and put under too though.  How wide is that axle and would it be a good choice?

not trying to sound like a jerk but why not measure the Taco axle that you have for the measurement........

Sorry if my post wasn't really clear.  I don't have the axle yet.  I said "I have an axle I could get," which is confusing.  I've read that the Tacoma axles are 4" wider than the 84's, and the 86+ axles are 3" wider than the 84's.  I'm not sure if the 2wd Tacoma axles are smaller or weaker than the 4wd Tacoma axles.  It's like one of the base model trucks, with the leaf springs under the axle, not like the Prerunner Tacoma style.
