New to serious modding, how do I know what transfer case is in my rig. I bought it lifted, with a V-8 swap, th350 transmission, ford 9"rear, 4:56 gears. I want to be able to crawl slow on the trail, What's the best way to accomplish this with my setup? Dual? Pics of transfer case #'s below:

pretty sure thats the stock 85 tcase,  if so  you can run the 4.0 gears or 4.7 gears or  dual 2.28's  or duals with 2.28  and 4.7 in the rear

but for all things considered  in the long run the 4.0  gears is what i would recommend,  (easiest to install)

yep,  stock 85 tcase, very strong  ,but i would get the 23 spline 4.7  just for the strength

:headscratch:  not sure if they have 23 spline 4.0 gears :dunno:

i say 4.0 gears because you have to clearance the tcase for the 4.7's

That Transfercase is a RF1A Toyota Gear Drive T/case that rolled off the production line sometime in November of 1984. It is a Top Shift Style, non-PTO case.

It is ready for a Dual Case setup and/or 4.70:1 Low Range Gear Set  ("or" option: ~100:1 final drive, "and" option ~200:1)

Thanks guys, The main thing I want to accomplish here is a very low crawl ratio. The truck is used 90% trail use only. I am wondering if I should just re-gear or do the dual case. Cost is a factor as well. On steep declines I am constantly stomping the weak stock brakes.
