Johnny Law and Them-Thar Beadlocks

For those of you running beadlocks on your vehicles, trailered to each event or not, who has had problems with local law enforcement folks driving American cars with red and blue flashing lights?  I've heard stories from Moab about getting a ticket per occurrence (a separate ticket for each beadlocked wheel) on their rigs, regardless of the "back to town to a trailer" story.  Any problems out in California?  My feeling is that most people would never notice anyhow, and if they did, would it really turn into a traffic violation.  How about running a beadlock on the street on a daily driven trail vehicle?

Also how bad is the balance on your beadlocks when you're out on the highway?  I wonder because it's a long long drive from Albuquerque, NM to the Con.

never heard of anyone getting a ticket out here in cali.  and balanace is as good as you get the tire centered on the lock

I know alot of them are starting to come out and say their wheels are DOT approved now!  But that doesn't mean that your state still allows them!  Sometimes it's really hard to tell a real beadlocked wheel from a fake one!  Alot of guys around here are running the black fake steel beadlocked wheel.

I've heard of guys carrying a brochure for the fake beadlocks in case they were pulled over.  I'd probably forget that I had it in the glove box...

just drive it, you'll be fine. there are so many fake BL's out there...you wont get pulled over for having beadlocks. if you get pulled over for another violation, they MIGHT notice your wheels and bring it up, but still unlikely - you'd have to hassle the cop or something for them to ticket u for that i'd think.

and thats if they even notice.  i've had no problems with my aluminum allieds..

I agree there are so many fake beadlocks out there that Johnny law wont be able to tell one from the other. Good idea on having a brochure for the fake beadlocks in the truck.

Never had a problem. I have been running them for about 8 years.Just be mello in Moab and other large events. Balancing has never been an issue either.

its just a utah thing.  I used to get pulled over once a month in utah.  each time I would find out five new things that were "illegal" on my trunck.  Since I have moved to vegas I have yet to be pulled over in over a  year.  I should note that I try to keep my truck legal to the best of my knowledge, and the officers are generally cool and have never issued a citation. 
I honestly think Utah law enforcement gets bored.  they are usually just pulling you over to check for other violations (DUI) etc. 
Also I have never been pulled over in Moab.  I have ran without front fenders and I always take off the mudflaps before my tires do.  Thats a huge no no there.  Can't speak about beadlocks yet, but I am planning on running them on the road too.  I go there at least once a year.

Moab Police have really stepped it up in the last couple of years.Not so much with Beadlocks, but registration,insurance,Buggies.

Now that I live in Moab, I have found that law enforcement will give you no problems unless:
Unregistered buggy type vehicle
DUI.... or acting like it.
I have HUGE removable mudflaps on my truck, but after being here a few days I realized that no one else was bothering with them, so I took them off.  After about two months daily back and forth to work and the trails, I had a sherrif follow me into work and suggest that it would be a good idea to put them back on.
To summarize my observations....... If you are just here for the weekend or an event, Don't be an idiot and they wont bother you.
Also, they seem to be alot more leinyent (sp) during the day than at night.
