if you wheel harder than i do and break a birf then i will send you one.  i run a welded front on a 10bolt and 38's and i dont break.  and i use the skinny pedal more than gears

:offtopic: :psss: Which is BS, cuz a 10 bolt and a 44 use the same bearings, and, thus, are the SAME axle. :offtopic:

whatever dude..  i do gears everyday i know what bearings go into them and they are not the same.  whoever told you them that they are the same axle is ignorant and has no idea what they are talking about.  my boss tore down a 10bolt and a 44 and took a micromiter to every part of the axle and the only part that is smaller and weaker tha a 44 is the sidegears in the carrier.  EVERYTHING else is bigger.  the stubs are the same size but they are shorter.

10 bolt or 44 still bout the same, toyota's are closer to a 60 in strenth than a stock 1/2 ton chevy.

:offtopic: The fact of the matter is..........YOU ARE going to break birfs. Weld or not its a fact of life. But There are diffent ways to look at it now. You wont be hard on the throutle with the welded front because your truck will have 7 times the tration. But you will have twice the strain on the birfs because they will be fighting each other non-stop. There is Pros and cons to everything but if you like to wheel in hairy spots the locked front is a must. My sugesttion is a birf up grade in the near furture .........maybe at the same time as you weld your front, seeing how your front end will already be torn apart.  I think everyone that has locked there front end before an axle up grade wishes they did it first.

Good luck son

I would say no save up your coin, as you have already read it is hell on the driver and front end, you will definitely need some spare parts if you weld it up
:driving: Will need two hands
Good luck
