question about yota with wheel hop
« on: May 25, 2006, 12:43:25 AM »
hey guys, i just built a 84 pick up with f-150 rear springs. and well i have no bed on the truck with the double shackel set up and. well when i go up a hill with a good amount of the skinny the back axle likes to start hopoing. as the double shackels try to unfold. right now i dont have any back shocks on it . could that cause my wheel hop. or could it be cause of not much weight?

thanks for your help guys
Brad

Get rid of the double shakle thing. If my friend wouldn't have had those things on his truck we wouldn't have rolled it. Adding some shocks would also help but I would definetly get rid of the double shackles first.

The double shackles are not your problem. Put shocks on it, with out them the rear of your rig is just a pogo-stick.

SHOCKS

thought i could join the party...ditch the gimmick shakles and build a track bar cause soft springs will wrap.

i cant not use the double shackels . cause i bobed my frame. so i have no room to move the new hanger back. and doesnt a track bar only keep your axle from going side to side. wouldnt i have to set up some 2link type bars from front to back of the truck.?  thanks guys for all of your help

Thats what a track bar is...the "side to side" link is a panhard bar.  Do a search on trackbars and look here: http://board.marlincrawler.com/index.php?topic=7088.0
How much frame do you have left...you can move the mount back as far as possible and run a longer shackle.  Or yo could pin the second shackle to the frame so it can't drop open.

no no your wrong. a track bar is side to side . and a panhard bar is front to back. i have a 1993 jeep cherokee with coil front end, it has a TRACK BAR.     no my brother had a 97 trans am and it had a rear PANHARD BAR . for axle wrap.

no matter what they call a track bar and a panhard bar the same thing. its the way that there used. track is side to side. and panhard is front to back.
