Heres a few pics of a the smallblock swap in my 94 toy .Very little clearance but the firewall is intact and theres no hood pins.Alot of people say its a pita but if you take your time, anything is possible.I went with the v8 due to the price/abundance of parts. The 3 litre just wasn't cutting it.It runs cool(180 all the time) due to an pusher electric fan set up.Off road the truck really shines even with a carb.On the highway it drives like car.Amazingly enough,I get pretty good gas mileage except when I stomp on it which is quite often.

man that's clean!  i'm used to seeing small block swaps that look like they pulled the motor fresh out of a 82 caprice that's been sitting in the junkyard for 10 years, and then hacking everything up.

Damn thats a tight squeze. Rig looks good DUde.
85 SR5, ARBs, Hi-steer, 35" Krawlers...has most of the right parts

Sweet! Very nice job indeed.

Might I inquire as to why you put all that effort into it but stuck with a carb?

I plan to go propane eventually but if it works why change it.It handles inclines/abrupt maneuvers like a champ.

You can do it just make sure you have all you need first to make things easier.Mine took about a month give or take.It was done pretty much with just hand tools, welder, chain hoist and alot of Dos Equis.Good luck and be prepared for the haters that will try to bring you down.

nothing wrong with a carb, makes things a little more interesting on inclines.

what motor mounts did you use.  I have the AA ones.  If I hadn't of bought them a while ago I would've just made my own but I already have them.

My buddy fabbed them with the motor/tranny in place. They have poly bushings like in lift springs. They won't tear up like rubber ones.
