Ok i've read threads and heard about it, but where is this Jose Basin place? Whats there? Is it an OHV area with camping?

Somebody give me the low down looking for a place to play for the day over memorial day

Thanks

Edit: plan on going there memorial weekend, probably trailering there on saturday and camping saturday night. If anyone has any more information on the area and locations of camping and rocks are let me know.

If anyone else wants to go lets do this, my rigs getting hydro assist this weekend or i'd be going this weekend. I gotta test my junk

Hey Kevin, I got a pretty decent crew going. Look for us in camp. The Runner is a wee bit taller than you saw it last. It's a shake down run for me too! See ya there.

Like stated above, not terribly hard.  Great place for a shake down.  The weather should be nice and cool.  I would go but I won't have time to build my front 3rd.  Its gettin an arb, 5.29's, and 30 splines.

84_yota_4wd

hey im goin i just need exact direction from hensly lake. and some 1 to camp by so im not lonly :inthedark:haha good times. im only on 33" and 6" of lift so it should be alot of fun and not the easiest maybe a bit of a challenge.

There will be an organized poker run going on up there.  I believe it is the overland trails run put on by hang em high.

Sat night that place will be rocking.

desertboy

Heard something about that. We can still wheel if were not part of that correct? Never been to this place and don't want to show up and not be able to wheel and camp

you can wheel on Saturday all you want but on Sunday you have to register for the Poker run to be able to wheel the cool :pokinit:.  I think the run is like 40 bucks or something.

I don't think they can send you away, it is public land.
The run is on sunday though.  I would go but I haven't had time to setup my front 3rd, and mismatched ratios would do any good.

desertboy

looks like were good to go almost starting to pack :rofl2: but the rig is locked cocked and ready to rock should be up there before noon. Had to rent a trailer from uhaul so my start time got screwed. Anyways if you see me stop by and say hi at this time i;m going solo that i know of :smack: so larry if you see me stop on by. And ben you can always show up for festivities

Did you take any pictures? I want to know what this place is like.

desertboy

i took some though not too many as our camera broke, i will post them up in a bit. It was some decent wheeling but you definetly have to know where your going aka tag along. The road to get there sucks, it's a one lane blind turn course. :yikes:

I don't know much more then that so i'll post pics, definetly a good place for a shakedown run as the trails all intertwine so you can go far but always be close to camp.

Have to go find 3rd gear in my trans now

Now I remember who you are.  You went to fresno state & graduated from the IT dept.  I took a few IT classes cause they were more fun than engineering classes, saw you over there.

If you want to take a nice ride and get some scenery...

follow the map above, but take a left on Musick Rd.  Its the old RR grade winds for ever.  Cool camp spot about half way at stevenson creek.  Follow it all the way and you pop out just north of shaver on the road to Big Creek.  Couple of miles before the end you hit a Y and it has a sign to Musick Mountain Look out.  You can peel off there and pop out just a little north of Shaver.  Go all the way, its cool and you see some of the penstocks from the water that they are moving through the mountain.  Good for a scenic breather, even in a 2WD.

But what fun would that be?

That place looks pretty good considering how close it is to town (~40mins). I may have to run up there maybe this weekend even just to check it out :yesnod:

Thanks for the pics and directions :beerchug:

I graduated from fresno state last year, industrial engineering.  I would have gotten a minor in industrial tech, but Dr. ow was an ass about it.  He wanted me to stay another 2 years.
