Hey everyone. I have a '91 4runner with a 3.0/5spd. And I was wondering what all is involved in swapping to a 2.7/5spd? I have heard that I need to fab motor mounts and use a turbo 22R bellhousing. But what else will I need to do?Thanks-----Tom

negative on the bellhousing, there isn't one that'll go from your R tranny to the 2.7.  the only transmissions that will work(at least in this country) are the W56 and G52/54 -- they bolt up the to the 2.7's bellhousing.

Oh, OK then I will need to change the tranny also? Will the 2.7/5spd bolt right up to my transfercase? Thanks----Tom

Either get the complete 2.7, electronics, tranny and t-case or just put a 3.4 in there. I'd think the 3.4 will be cheeper, easier, give the same milage, and more power overall.

It seems pretty straight forward to me.

Thanks for the replies! So I take it for the 3.4 I would need the engine, engine harness, and computer? Will the computer and engine wiring harness plug right into my '91 main harness? Or do I need to do some wiring? Is there a thread someone could direct me to with all the ammo to do the 3.4? Thanks alot-------Tom
