85 runner and lift ideas
« on: May 08, 2006, 08:57:04 PM »
Hello I'm new to the sight but not new to 4x4ing. I just bought a 85 4runner that has never had anything done to it. The stock spring are saging and I'm looking to lift it. I have a set of rear IFS spring and I have hear of alot of people putting them in the front what all do I have to do to make them fit and how much lift do you end up with. I was thinking about doing that and a set of 63" chevys in the rear but I'm not really sure that I want to start cutting on it yet. and what tires would clear on that set up. Please help.

unless you want to run 35's or larger you can get some 79-83 front springs  ,they are thinner and have more stock flex,  then add a leaf or two from a 88-94 F150 2wd spring pack,  then put the rest of the f150 pack mixed into the rears you have and you will have 3-4 inches of lift and mucho flex
for under $50

I was under the impression that you need crossover steering for the rears up front, as they move your axle 2" forward.
