the joys of V6 header installation
« on: Dec 12, 2003, 11:05:43 PM »
Hey,

Does anyone else out there have Downey 3.0 L V6 headers on their rig????    I just completed installing mine(ceramic coated) and the matching 2.5" exhaust w/catalytic converter on my 1994 extended cab PU.  The infamous OE crossover pipe came out no sweat after hacking off the flanges with the trusty sawzall     (the bolts were rusted solid anyway).  Being that I'm still only a young'n (22) and have had to teach myself everything mechanical completely on my own, I was surprised at how well the installation went.  It was still quite an ordeal, but I got through it and the performance gains that the headers and exhaust give on the V6 engine, I'd say the blood, sweat and tears were MORE thanh worth it.

I plan on getting headers from them soon. Removeing that cross over pipe was a concern of mine. I just had all those parts off a few months ago when I built the engine so they shouldn't be hard to remove the bolts. I was seriously thinking of takeing the trans down the remove the pipe. I'll just cut that pipe like you did. Thanks for that helpful tip.
