So tomorrows the big day, no immagrants are going to go to work. I wish we could come up with these reasons not to go to work. (jk) I just wonder what's going to happen if it doesn't work and we don't miss them? Is L.A.'s mayor going to go to work? He supports their cause so he should stay home too. Then we'd realize that we don't need a mayor either and dissolve the position. Sure we'll all sit at home and watch yet another over-running of Downtown L.A. but what does that really accomplish. Most people that are watching this will look at it and say, "Whoa there are more illegals than I thought, this is a problem that needs to be dealt with". I think they are going to hurt their cause by doing this, here's what they'll accomplish, either they will make people realize that there is too many of them and that we do need to fix the problem since a total walk out will cause substantial interuption of services or it won't have an effect at all. Either way I think that this walk out is a lose-lose for their cause.

Personally I'm totally for a worker program that allows Mexicans to work within the country for a limited time since they will never be admitted legally within the current system. I don't know what they are thinking but I have noticed that planned walk outs or strikes have had a very negative public impact recently.

  i dunno where to start.  My boss will be working, but he will not send his kids to school.  I guess that is their idea of equality.  None of them go to work/school, so everyone else has to pull their load.  typical. [/rant]

My grandfather is Mexican and his mother came here Legally and earned her citizenship.
I'm all for Legal immagration, but as for the illegals that hop the fence...round them all up and make they walk back like a chain gang.

I'm all for a worker program, as well as LEGAL immigration.  You jump the border, you are a criminal, plain and simple.  Personally, I noticed that my travel time to work wasn't near as long as it usually is on a monday morning.  They're trying to prove we can't live without'm?  I didn't mind the shorter wait time today

I get a traffic report every afternoon to see how traffic on I-4 eastbound is flowing, or I should say, how badly it’s backed up.

It is usually top of the list at between 6.5-7.3 or there abouts.

The illegals/immigrants take the day off, traffic on I-4 eastbound is 1.1 Coincidence? I THINK NOT!!!

   yes it does. I usually take leisurely backroads. It probably takes me as long but it is a lot less stressful, and much more scenic.

We actually had an argument at the dinner table about this. I think that, if they are here legally that is one thing, they should get respect for doing it right and they do a good job here. BUT- the illegals should be rounded up and thrown back. I think that they can go home, wait for paperwork to come through and give it another go, but until then, they should stay in Mexico or wherever they came from.

I went to wal mart today, and it was nice, no lines, no Illegals, no spanish etc. it was nice, I wish these Illegals would do this once a week.

what I find funny, is they (the Illegals) want us to give them "respect", well respect is NOT given, its earned. they could earn by NOT digraceing the flag of the country they are wanting the "respect" from, start paying taxes, start paying for there health care, there auto ins. I think that would be a great start for them to start earning the respect they want.

  there are sooooooo many different subraces of each race its insane. my school is very clickish, but is FAAAAARRRRRR MMMMOOOOORRRRRREEEEE RACIST than anything. sadly, the most common thing i hear in the hall is (fat hispanic girls/wangsta hispanic guys) "look at all these WHITE PEOPLE (yelled out loud), they need to get the F*** outta my way, the racist pigs."

Trust me Red, I know exactly what you are talking about. At my school there are the "gangsters" mixed in with the rest of us that are just trying to learn a trade and graduate, and then these jokers get into the school thinking it is an easy way to graduate. Luckily over half have failed out so I don't have to deal with them. My buddies and I have had a few run-ins with them, they think they are so much different than everyone else at the school, and no this isn't a race issue, it is a values issue.

There is a freeway conjestion system here in SoCal, it is a computerized color coded with green, yellow and red. Normally at 4:30 pm it is mostly in the red meaning speeds are under 35 mph. Well at 4:30 today those lights were all green, meaning that speeds were over 55 mph. Now in the Downtown area it was a whole different story, you could go nowhere. That sure is a good way to get people on your side. The Day Without Immigrants proved that without them there is half the traffic.

I did notice a change though, most of the Mexico flags were missing now replaced with American flags. A little late in planning that one, they should have done that one before everyone saw their true allegiance. One other little problem with the protest, I couldn't tell what they were protesting since all the signs were in Spanish.  If you are going to protest something and want to get the masses on your side maybe you should write it in the language of the country you are in. What are they thinking, I can't stand going anywhere anymore, everything is in Spanish and in English.

On Thursday me and a couple guys at work were joking around about this very thing, they are "legal immigrants" and we were talking about this protest. I told them to make sure and take their Resident Cards because they planned on fencing off the protest area and once inside they were going to close them in. Then they were going to open a small walk in gate and one at a time you had to show your card and if you didn't have one there was another gate with a bus.
