Twin Stick wont let me shift
« on: Mar 29, 2006, 05:20:27 PM »
I think I may have gotten the wrong twin stick, in 2wd my gearshift knocks the 2wd/4wd shifter into 4wd with 2nd and 3rd gear. The bolt pattern fit and everything but I cant use 2wd, could I have maybe gotten a top shift or v6 shifter.

There is an interlock pin or ball that has to be removed so you can move both rails at the same time.

If you don't take it out you will only be able to use low if you are in 4x4.

This may help http://www.marlincrawler.com/htm/transfercase/twin_stick_inst.htm

After rereading what you posted I see what you meant.

You may need a gasket to lift the shifter up some.

The shifter must be sticking through the rails and hitting the trans shifter rails.

No the knobs were hitting I called Steve at Marlin and he said to use it on a single transfer case you have to bend the shifter so I heated the 2wd/4wd shifter and bent it back about an inch and it works great now.

Thats weird. I know you got it fixed, but you should not have had to do that.. There should not be any modifications necessary in order for our Twin Sticks to shift properly. They should work just fine atop a T/case no matter if its a single case or a rear case. I wonder if you have a shifter from a different transmission that is angled differently than your stock one?

Glad you got it fixed, sorry you had to modify it.

Regards,
BigMike

On mine the problem I had when I first put it on was the boot was causing both levers to shift in sync.
Removed the boot, end of problem.
