as far as updates, there are none.  I am still driving this pile, I have the original engine sitting in storage I need to bring it home and strip it down.  I bought a streetbike and have been working on getting it legit so I can park my truck, and waiting on Craigslist people to bring me money.  It still knocks really bad and my oil pressure gauge shakes like a dog shitting peach pits.

Dang mang.  That blows big fat hairy chunks.  Maybe time to upgrade to a bigger motor?

I am almost decided on swapping a 4.3/700r4 into mine.  You could too and we could be like brothers from a different mother!

well the one that is in it is by no means stock.  But, yes, this one will be bigger. :yesnod: Downside of NAPA no longer dealing with Clevite is that if I go with forged pistons again, it's gonna cost me a buttload of cash.  I am hoping that cast pistons will hold up.

re the pistons in the motor you have toast?  Or you want to get the new motor built before you pull this one?

yeah definitely have to build this one first.

Not at all...they are good bearings, I had something get into one of mine, methinks maybe when I did the HG.

I thought your noise turned out to be only your fuel pump? as per Marlin?

That was the loud one.   fixed that, and then there was a little ticking sound that I couldn't hear over the clack of the pump.   So technically you are correct, and of course so was Marlin himself.  Never buy an Attarco

OK I spent 3.5 hours stuck on the side of the freeway today.  I thought i blew the engine.  Looks like LC is gonna get a call tomorrow, and I found my "tick". their stud sheared off, must have dropped into the crank sprocket, and it sheared the woodruff key on the crank sprocket.  The lower end turns, but their is no valvetrain movement. I may have gotten lucky though, as no valves are down...we shall see.  It doesn't really matter. I'm pretty sure LC is gonna tell me to piss up a rope.

WOW! LC better do you right man.... they owe you whatever it cost to fix it.
if not, id be taking them to court... that could have been very disasterous.

I dunno man.  We'll see what LC says about the failure rate.  The thing that is crawling up my ass, is that those nuts were put on with Loctite.

No, they can probably get out of it by saying because I am not a trained mechanic I installed it incorrectly.  I will NOT sue them...I can take my lumps.  I was heading to Lathrop to get a swingarm stand for my streetbike. I was on Hwy 120.

damn! that sucks though.
they better at least replace the cam gear. you have to replace the whole crank shaft or can you replace just that little key?
hope you get it all kosher.

Well I used Blue because it is service removable(in case I needed to adjust it) maybe you should use Red though...I don't know Todd. I can't tell if the nut backed off and caused the stud to shear, or if it is just a defective (weak) stud that couldn't handle my monster torque numbers. :talkingn:

HO: I live about 20mins from that stinkhole.  It depends on how bad it got scarred.  I'm gonna build a complete new engine anyhow, from the original engine out of this truck.  Bigger and better.

Jud: that was some funny :pokinit:. Was he in the gray 4Runner? I was like Hey!! a toyota...then my phone goes off. very cool of him to call me and see how I was.

Now I am second guessing this whole adjustable cam gear... is the few degrees I got out of it really worth risking my engine over? Or should I just put the stock one back on? :dunno:

It would be much appreciated! Thanks. Ask them if it is a somewhat common problem (they will probably lie if it is a common problem), if so I am going to say forget it, and just put the stock gear on.
