I put a used carb that I bought on here that seemed in good shape on my 85 Toy.  It works good but I cannot get the idle below 1200.  I have checked all the vacumn lines no leaks found, I have tried carb cleaner to clean it out, I have tried adjusting the idle with the screw.  I even double checked the timing a couple times.  I let it warm up and tap the throttle but it stays high.  Does anyone have any possible solutions to this problem.

take your throttle cable off and see if it idles down, i have found some celica that had throttle cables that needed adjustment , usually just loosening the nut on the valve cover that holds it will give enough slack.  if that doesnt work or doesnt do enough,   you may need to adjust the mixture(bottom of carb,ie the needle valve)
but it sounds like your linkage is binding so that it doesnt come to rest on the idle set screw properly

do you have a thermostat in your truck?? if not the coolant going thru your choke is not getting warm enough to open the choke

check these things,  if it doesnt work call LCengineering they have a deal on 32/36 weber kits for $309

The throttle isn't stuck and so I may be looking at a weber although I have heard horror stories about them.  Just to be fair I have heard praises too but you never know who to believe :bull crap: :bull crap: :bull crap:

Can U kill the motor with the mixture screw?  Does the truck have A/C? If it does That carb is designed to jump the idle up when the A/C is on. The sylenoid could be bad.

I am tempted to buy a weber but don't want to fork over the cash so I have the mechanic checking all my adjustments as I write this and i'll go from there.
