I've got one of the older long Downey adapters. Do they still make them? Was just on their site and didnt see any.. Is there a problem with them? Should I not use it? Its the th350 to toycase, about 6 or so inches lone. For a foreward shift box.

they could of stoped making the longer ones because you dont have as much room as a shorter one, but im not real familiar with downeys adapters. hope fully my guess will help, if not call downy and ask them.

This adapter was designed to install a 3.8 Buick V6 into a 79-83' mini-truck and thanks to its long length, the orginal t-case mount and drive shafts could be reused. It was a very popular motor swap in the 80's but due to oil pump, and head gasket problems ect. (they always over heated), the heavy, poor power Buick motors went away. Because of its long length, sales dropped. Downey now makes a 1.5" adapter. I belive it was orginally made by Adavance Adapter. I do not think it is in production. :_oops: Their # is 1 800 350-2223.
Because of the auto trans--no shock load--It had a good service record. It was only available 21 spline.
