Topic: looking into buying 1982 toyota with 87 22r any common problems with this year?

I'm looking into buying a 1982 toyota short bed with an newer motor out of a 87 toyota pickup. not fuel injected.
 I just wanted to know if  theres any really common problems with this year?
 the truck is only $850 obo clean body execpt for pass side front fender. clean interior

dude, go snatch that truck up  befor its gone

they are great trucks,   look for rust  beside the gas tank on the frame,

but that can be repaired

thanks for the reply I have a 85 toyota that I;m doing a flatbed full exo cage on but I blew a head gasket. I'm looking for for a 22r .   that was my daily driver but I got to crazy with that truck so I got to find a replacement.  the 1982 toyota is actually posted on the rigs for sale.

i'll go look,  but if it runs at all and is in working order and has  some fenders  its worth 850

dude,  you need to be on the right now with cesar,  he's NUTS for not asking $2000

assuming the tranny and tcase work at all

drive it,  if it jumps out of gear  then 850 is still a ok price but that body is perfect,  those fenders can be had for $50


if it runs and drives good,  get away fast befor he come to his senses

Sounds like you got a deal there, even if it turns out to be a turd. Parts alone are worth it.

If you want the engine to last you should consider replacing the timing chain guides with steel ones.  That's probably one of the bigger downsides to what you're buying.
