first jack up the front end
pull tires
brake calipers
hub outer make shure they are in the free position
snap ring on end of axle shaft inside hub
hub inner
spindle nuts 54 mill socket i think if you dont have one you can use a punch and a hammer on the edges of the nut to nock it loose they shouldent be real tight a socket is preferable
pull the brake rotor off
remove the the cover behind the rotor i wanna think 8, 12 or 14 mill bolts
turn the birfield so the flat spots are in line with the trunion bearings and pull
repeat on the other side then disconect the front drive shaft and take all of the 12 mill bolts out of the therd and yank it out

reverse these steps to put it back togeather and i use permatex altra grey
its also a good idea to replace the inner axle seal wile your at it and regrees the birfs make shure to have lots of rags handy

This link might help with some of the details...there is a better article on Birfield.com but I cannot find it right now but here is a start. I use the Toyota FIPG gasket goop and it seems to seal up fine. I would replace the inner axle seal and do a knuckle rebuild while you've got everything apart
