im so hardcore i can break my rearend on the street. i think it was amix of the sharty weld job by the previous owner, the thick gear oil i had mixed with the cold ass weather here in Wyoming, it just finally gave. it was fun busted out the 2 tire fire though  

whats really weird is the marks on the carrier . the spider cross assembly it totally shot, as well as the carrier but the ring and pinion themselves have no chipped teeth. kinda confused on that one

i bet your pinion is nice and shroomed ...  you torqued so much you crushed your crush sleve more and the pinion dug into the carrier..   and the PO  welded the diff totally wrong..  never ever ever weld to the carrier its self..   always turn the teeth into a mass of steel

fyi i did not weld that as i stated above. welding isnt my thing. ironclad im gonna look into the crush sleeve, that makes sense to me

i know i was sayin the PO  did it wrong       ive seen pinions dig into the carrier like that allllllllllllllll the time..  happens when pinion bearings go out or when running a crush sleeve and you get bound up and torque the hell out of it..   what were ya doin when it broke ?

burnout . but heres the thing; i did the burn out and drove to school, noticed nothing. went to leave school that afternoon and it was instant something was fawked up. called AAA, asked for a flatbed, they brought me a regular wrecker, guy wouldnt pull me because my tires were to big , but he would charge me $70 flatrate with a flatbed. so i said flop it and drove it home the 5 miles.....on the freeway

dont you have a five-OH! in yer rig ?   burn out would deff kill  a crush sleeve lol..  probably what happend is  burn out..  sleeve crushed an dug the pinion into the carrier with locked it up just enough to bust the welds loose on the spiders..  reason why you didnt notice anything is  your gears were constantly meshed one way on the way to school untill you parked.. once you back up they   un mesh and   then bam..  its alll done...   that sound about right  for you ? lol

nope just a mild built LC ENG motor. she still gets in on evem at 7100 feet

Time to replace with solid spacers...crush sleeves bring teh suk.

damn..my 1st semester welding students can weld better than that, and 90% have never welded before..good thing it broke when it did so youcan git that pos out of your yota
