been thinking about getting a brand new '06 in a few months and turning my 91 toy into a serious mudder.  been leaning toward the tundra maybe not even a 4x4.  whats everyone think?

If you're going full size, i'd go with an F150, my dad has an 04 XL, 5.4 automatic, long bed extended cab with heavy tow package, it's a pretty basic truck (no power windows or locks and no carpet), it's nice and has plenty of power.

It depends on what your intentions are with the new truck you are buying. Daily driver? Tow rig? Personally if I were to buy a brand new truck, I would buy a Ford F-250 turbo diesel. A co-worker has one that has been modified (exhaust, intake, chip) and the torque that thing has would make me smile all day long. Everytime you hit the gas you feel like someone is punching you in the chest. The turbo spool sound is just as pleasing. And I am not even a Ford fan. But that is one bad truck. And it would make a hell of a tow rig.

You'll love the Tundra, but you'll regret not getting a 4x4.

Hmmmm, I could buy a tundra and have something that will last a very long time with minimal service/down time, or I could buy an f150 that will very possibly have endless problems.  Decisions decisions............

I would say the tundra is a good choice, and if its just a daily driver/tow rig 2wd would be ok. when we tow anything we never need anything but 2wd. My truck is a 98 dodge ram and I love the truck and have no problems with it but I know domestic vehicles have problems after a while. So buy the tundra I love those trucks.

Another good suggestion.....maybe toyota will get off their asses and offer a tundra diesel!

I've heard those are gonna be out soon... like '09 or something, but I heard it somewhere :headscratch:

Don't bet on it!  Remember when daimler(mercedes) bought chrysler?  I would expect changes yes, but drastic changes will probably be over some time.  Could be interesting if it really goes down though!
