Jason thought of a few ingenious ways to keep warm including this bottle of Crown Royal

and a propane heater under his ass

Unfortunately, James' 26 year old truck with over 200,000 decided it wanted to blow a head gasket. We had to cut the trip short 2 days while we rounded up a U-haul tow dolly and a reliable tow rig.  Notice James having heart palpitations in this pic when he finds out that my 4 cylinder is going to be towing him home, 16 hours away.

The straps U-haul gives are made for like 14 inch tires so we had to cut a tow strap in ½ , use a D ring and make do.

Looks like you had a great time, if you haven't found them a couple people have been asking questions on towing thier rigs with a Toyota truck. How did it do, was it squirlly or did it tow like the champ a Toyota is.

Yea, it didn't really pull so well.  I was hauling his big ass truck plus like 1000 pounds of other crap.  Average cruising speed was around 60 @ 3000. It is a rebuilt stock 4 cylinder after all.  Hills pretty much sucked and the wind was so friggin strong in Kansas.  It was a very stable setup, just slow.  On the way there, I was getting around 25 mpg.  On the way back, around 10 to 15 mpg.  We made it back though so whatever.

That should settle some of thier questions since they are wondering about tow with 6cyl. and not a 4. The mileage difference sucks (j/k) though, but it was probably the wind too. I know my mileage will vary with the wind all by itself, but not that much.

My old 32's maxed out the Uhaul straps on the hauler.

Good thing you didn't try Red Cone in the snow!  I think St. Elmo is in the general area.  Wheeler Lake was also in the area and might have been a good option.

Yeah, St. Elmo.  Buena Vista was the closest town. What's Red Cone?

This is a classic example of pictures not doing something justice.  It is sort of like a dirt Lions Back at 13,000 ft.  It is actually North of Fairplay off of 285 and can connect to the Breckenridge side of the pass.
