Carb Help
« on: Feb 09, 2006, 11:22:03 AM »
Hey guys, I'm currently rebuilding my first 22R carb, after FUBARing the secondary main jet tryin to get it out, I went ahead and ordered new jets from the stealer.  They got me the correct secondary main jet, but ordered me a different size for the primary main jet, I had a 114, and they got me a 116. I just wondered what(if any) would be the differences in running this slightly bigger jet in it?  Would I run into alot of problems or is it something that I can compensate for when tuning the carb? Also would there be any advantages to running this slghtly bigger jet?

Thanks!!

I dont think it will matter much on the secondary, God bless you, the last time I tried to rebuild a jap carb it ended up in the trash with the new rebuild kit, In favor of a Weber carb. I got 10 trouble free years out of the weber.

Good luck

Oh yea, from what I've heard from different sources, the 22r carbs are among the most difficult and aggrevating to rebuild.  Good luck!

Hmmmmmm, all seems to be going well so far. I've been working on it here and there when I have time, now everythings assembled and all I got left is the float adjustment, along with the choke.  Didn't seem that bad, but I guess that remains to be seen when I get her on the motor......

I've been tempted to buy a rebuild kit and just try rebuilding one of my spares myself.  For some reason the 22r carbs seem to be really sensetive to sitting around for any length of time.

meaning bad things happen to them? this one was fullly cleaned in some carb cleaner, dipped for about 3 days, then went over with 4 cans of that areo-kill carb stuff then blowen out with compressed air....hopefully she's all good, the PO FUBARed the current one pretty good and it's now impossible to adjust the A/F mixture on it, tried everything, even went through the whole lean drop method, twice.......anyway if it dosen't work out, I got it off of eBay for $41 bucks inc. shipping, not a bad deal!!

Yeah, it's amazing how many tiny little things they manage to squeeze into that thing. I guess just cross my fingers and hope it runs....good thing it's my spare!
