Surely there must be a resident 3RZ expert here that knows the answer    :help:

To my knowledge, the late Advanced Off-Road Research was the first team to develop a custom RZ-block > R-series transmission belhousing, about two years ago, that was used in their Tacoma Desert Race Truck with an alledged Normally Aspirated 300-Hp 3RZ.

Marlin has looked into it for the extent of about 1 day. He is just too busy doing to many other things, not to mention, just where the heck is the Rear Disconnect case that he has yet to produce..

We have hired and trained new hands to take over the transmission department of the business which gave Marlin the full control over New Product Research and Development. I know for a fact, that along with Conversion 3RZ Engine Mounts, a 3RZ > R-transmssion adapter was in the works. However, due to a recent overwhelming demand for transmissions, Marlin has had to stop with the R&D and has moved back to Transmission building.

Once they get caught up I am sure these new products will be considered for new development.

We would like to get going with more Tacoma parts, but we need more help at the shop. We need to hire a new office worker and a new shop worker to keep up with the demand and expansion that our current work team is faced with.

Well, that sounds like a bunch of corporate garble, but it's all too true.

I have seen an adapter plate from a company in AUS that has built just a simple 3/8" thick (or so) adapter plate that has dual bolt patterns convert the front housing of a W- or G-transmission to accept a R-series belhousing. Although we have never personally seen this adapter, our concern is such that if you space out the distance between the engine block and the front of the transmission housing, then the input of the transmission will have less contact with the pilot bearing at the back of the crankshaft (after it plugs through the clutch disk). Seems fishy

I just want to know why every one wants an R series tranny for the 3RZ. Just buy an HD W56 or W59 and put the Ultimate crawler behind it and what more do you need. I have a 3RZ in my 85 4runner and when Im on the street a lower first gear would suck, not help.

Just so everyone knows the 1st gear in the w59 is a bit lower than the 56. something like 4.08. If you check out marlins calc's for crawl ratio's you can figure it out.
