Manual SM420, if you're going hard core, do it right the first time.

if you can find one, the nv4500's are a good choice, believe you'd want the early 90's 5.63(about that) first gear...great trannys from what i read up on when i was looking at parts for the jeep...^_^

I think the new TJ have six speeds, that would be sick.  Definatley get a manual, Auto's rob power and are not as tough.  Plus you will get better gas milage.
