86 4Runner SoCal (some assembly req)
« on: Jan 03, 2006, 08:03:03 AM »
I am finding that I do not have the time or the space to build a rig like I want to, so I'm going to offer this on up and look for something more ready to wheel.

'86 Toyota 4Runner  22RE Auto.  You know you want to try out the new Inchworm auto trans adapter, that's what I was going to do. :eyebrow:

When I bought this it had an overheating problem that was being hard to diagnose.  Turned out to be a head gasket like I thought but couldn't tell till it was torn down.  Instead of dealing with the engine it came with I got a good deal on an early 90's 22RE that I was told had a rebuilt head/new timing chain w/ about 35k on them.  The old engine has been sold and the "new" engine is still in the garage needing the brackets for the AC and power steering put on as well as the upper intake manifold.  I plan on getting the engine put back in if I can find some time in the next few weekends.  The price will be adjusted accordingly.

A few other things that come to mind.
There is one rust spot under the gas door.  Couple of scratches and dents, biggest one on the rear corner.  Interior is kinda worn, but not un-usuable.  I have an '83 front axle that is completely apart.  I think it is missing some studs/hardware, would need knuckle rebuilt.  Have your choice of a 4.10 or a 4.30 third.  (4.30 would match the rear)

Located in SoCal
Asking $1900 OBO in current condition.

This is the only pic I have on the computer right now.  Will take some more later in the week.

I'm in Running Springs.  San Bernardino Mtns on the way to Big Bear.  I have access to a trailer and could deliver within 50 or so miles from San Bernardino for free, further for gas money.

Yup.  Are you nearby at all???  Your welcome to come look at it.  Otherwise I'll try to get some more pics up.

4Runner went to a good home a while back.  He is still working on putting it back together, but I'm confident he will get it done and have in out on a SoCal trail.  Thanks for the interest.
