Had a chance to play with the Critter the other day so I copied Cruiser Dave and did a little frame welding! Still need to box in the rear frame horns though.

On of our customers sells a kit to box in the rear frame. Its laser cut 1/8" plate and also comes with a gusset for the rear spring hanger. I plan on buying a kit next month. Here is the link http://www.tlcconcepts.com/index.html

Thanks for the link Dave, that kit looks like a must have. I was planning to cut out my own but this will save me time and a stack of cut off wheels!

Havent posted in a while so heres a little update. Got some new mirrors and half doors for the 40. The mirrors came from Cool Cruisers and the doors from SOR

Whittled out a slave cylinder bracket today. Tried to keep it as simple as possible, its got a couple of ears welded on the inner side to take the bellhousing to engine bolts. Its got a bit of angle bent into it to clear the oil filter boss on the motor and to keep the slave rod aligned. Ill gusset the bend once im sure its dead on.

Just use a mini case behind your Cruiser 4spd.

Thanks for the encouragement, not a whole lot of exciting stuff going on right now, mainly just resealing the 327 and some wiring work. Still have a ways to go. Aux fuel tank, fab up a t case x member, chromoly axles, radiator, Family cage, rear bench, brake lines blah blah blah!

Do you have your rear bench seat?  Just wandering when I did my 40 I looked and looked for one I liked.  I ended up going with one from Steel Horse.  I made mine so the back flipped down and the whole seat flipped forward.  It works pretty well I used a mount of off a old K-5 Blazer to secure the back.  It works pretty well.  Just a thought if you do not have one already.

Nah, dont have one yet, I have the fold down factory seats that mount on the fender wells and was gonna use a set of Subaru Brat seats but they are unpadded. Thanks for the tip on the blazer mounts, ill check them out.

Finally got some time freed up to work on the Cruiser . Picked up a new tach and clock to match the rest of the cluster.

Heres a shot of the Chevy clutch pedal modified to take the FJ60 clutch master. Heres a shot of my 4runner brake booster, FJ80 brake master and FJ60 clutch master all nestled together in a tight little bundle!

Picked up a short shift setup from Marlin for the Toybox. This will help as the 465 shifter base was quite a bit higher than the T case.

Got a little more work done this week beefing the front end with truss, Knuckle ball gussets and diff armor. Decided to rebuild knuckles just for peace of mind. Glad I did cause it turned out the bearings were shot.

Christmas came early this year! Got my 30 spline longs and my Alloy USA rears!

With 35s those axles should hold up real nice.

I think ill be in good shape, back when I started this build, Rocky and Dean assured me that this setup would be solid. Bobby shows some big numbers for the 30 splines and the Alloy rears come with a 10 year warranty . I have the Aisin hubs that im gonna stuff with Longs hub innards. Should be dialed in after that.

Been giving the T case crossmember some thought. LC Owner said he was going with a crossmember using a Front Range design. I gave them a look and decided to go that route too to LC O. Front Range offers thier polyurethane mount bushings separate so I bought a set from them. Had I realized that they sold the Cross Member Center Plate, I would have bought one of those too . Anyhow I made my own Center Plate out of 3/8".

Heres one mounted. I cut it out sort of diamond shaped because I wanted to have plenty of material to bolt and weld the arms to.

Heres what Im thinking about doing with the Crossmember. Two 1/4" plates for the lateral arms sandwich the Center Plate with 2 plates of 3/8" across the top of the arm plates, laying horizontal.

Got another piece of the puzzle today! BudKing hooked me up with the 4.37 third ive been looking for  This ones for you Mike! We made the trade over at Marlins and got a quick look at the expansion project. Things are really looking up!

Did a bunch of measuring , cutting, spot welding and trial fitting, coming right along

A little Chevy orange to top things off, still need to build the frame mounts, Then ill be able to move on to the drive lines.
