man i have a newer motor maybe 10 or 12 thousand on it, and i have very low oil pressure, it dont make any engine noise, theres now power lose, so what could it be, i dont really want to rebuild the whole thing, so can i just change the oil pump, or take the oild pan off and change the bearing if thats what i could be. :turtle:

What is "really" low oil pressure?

Oil pressure for 22 motors is 4-60 psi is normal.  Pressure goes up as you increase rpm.  But @ idle, 4psi is normal.

i have the SAME EXACT problem (22re). at idle i have none or really low pressure. Then when i'm on the throttle it gets like maybe 65% up on the guage....

well i have the dash with the sr5 dash, so it has the oil gauge and when im at idle its like the damn truck is turned off, but when i drive it or its above 2000 rpm its right below the first little line on the gauge

Do either of you have a REAL gauge on it?
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

ya, put a manual gauge on it, that'll tell you whats actually going on.

Mine runs ~55-60 on the road & 15 to 20 at idle when it is warm. I am using the turbo oil pump so it has a little more at idle. Realize most of the aftermarket "turbo" oil pumps are reboxed regular 22re pumps. The only real turbo pumps I have found are from the dealer & lots of money.

on the topic....what are people using for manual gauages? preferred choice

Autometer, autogauge (cheaper autometer), VDO or even a cheapy sun performance is better than trusting a generic dash gauge.  I always gow with manual gauges too.  They are a bit slower to react to changes but they are more reliable and trustworthy in my experience.

Try a new sending unit, my nissan used to run 20 psi and now it's a constant 45 to 50 psi at idle or at speed!  I definitely would get a better guage, one with numbers instead of colored markings! If those don't solve it then I would look at the oil pump.

Sunpro mechanical guages. If you get a manual guage, spend a little extra & get an oil pressure guage with metal tubing from the guage to the sender boss. The plastic line will fatigue & break. It will blow a great deal of oil at speed. If you don't notice it immediately you could possibly ruin your engine. Luckily mine blew & sprayed oil on the windsheild as soon as it broke. Bought the better guage after that one.

I had a low oil pressure problem once on my 83yota. Turned out to be the fuel pump leaking fuel into the crankcase and diluting the oil. Might be worth a sniff or two.
My normal pressure is well over 20 at idle and around 40-50 down the road. :driving:
