well, this is an offshoot of my bobbed bed i jsut got from bigbluewillys (pat)

now what i ahve a bobbed bed, i need to hack off frame.... how can i do this safely? i need to add a bumper and some crossbracking first and foremost... i would liek to brace it and also aet up a 2" receiver somehow.....

just chop it until no more hangs from the bed, i used a piece of 2x3 1/4" square tubing for a rear bumper/crossmember, you could easily cut it in half and place a reciever in the middle with the appropiate bracing.

what is the appropriate bracing? there is already a crossmember there, jsut below the bed
i dont care if frame sticks out an inch or 2, but i want to get something on there.....

I think you should bring to my shop and I can build you the bumper and reinforce your frame for you. :thumbs:

on a side note i would just cut the frame to the length you need. You should not go past the spring hangers unless you are planning on moving them. The frame is c shaped from the hangers back . i would just add a peice of square stock .25 wall with your reciever in the middle acroos the frame. maybe ad a few gussets. If done right you can make it flush with the end of the bed. Hard to explain i know. Just get down there and get creative or PM me and we can talk.

you don't need anything back there really cause there is nothing there stock but since you want a hitch I would say weld in a piece of 2x4 with a piece of reciever tubing either built into or welded under it.
