clutch squeel
« on: Oct 13, 2005, 05:54:39 PM »
i got the marlin 1600lb clutch about amonth ago (new flywheel as well)
got it installed all good, and nothing but good remarks about it, excellent grab. theres a couple things tho, ever since i lost the stock clutch the pedal has never been as stiff. i had a dynapak in there befor the marlin, i changed the master and slave cylinder (but not the lines) but i just cant seem to get that even, stiff pressure..any ideas?
also when starting from a stop in forward or reverse i get this loud squeel as i let the clutch out. it happens a tiny bit shifting into second as well. in revese if u give it plenty of gas it wont do it, but i dont wanna burn the clutch like that. i've adjusted freeplay countless times, any other ideas what it could be?
thanks guys

you did install the clutch disc the right way didnt you??
your disc might be coming in contact with the pressure plate

did you install a new throwout bearing??   did you put a little antiseaze on the throwout bearing sleave ??

not sure why you dont have good pedal unless you have some air in the system,  get someone to hold your clutch down  then use a 10mm wrench to crack the bleeder on the slave cylinder,  dont let them lift the pedal until you have tightened the bleeder  or it will suck the same air back in,  do this a couple times or untill you get a solid stream of fluid  and your pedal should be firm

if you cant find me here you can email me directly,   email is on my Marlin profile

well then, that may be the problem. i was going to put a bit of grease on the throwout bearing, but after talking to a local parts-guy he told me not to...said it would prematurly wear the bearing.....(dont ask me how grease hurts bearings...)
as for the clutch feel, i've bled it befor, but ill give er another go today. the mc/sc are pretty recent but nt the hard lines, i think there may be a leak somewhere that lets air in, but not big enough to show evidence of leaking fluid.
thanks!

I normally put grease between the bearing & where it rides on the output shaft housing. Is that where you mean?
