NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: Sep 29, 2005, 06:12:37 PM »
So i called my mom up to see if I could get the night off so I could go fishin.  She referred me to her husband and said to ask him.  I'm like WTF? So i call him up and he says that her truck burnt to the ground and she's really stressed.  (She didn't bother tellin me this over the phone).  So I got home, and sure enough, the truck is toast!!!

Apparently she parked it at 5:30 at the Bingo Hall, another branch of our ranch.  She hears a commotion at 9:30 ish :yikes: and goes outside.  Her truck was engulfed, the starter had shorted out and it had driven itself up the grassy hill in front of it, I guess it hit a tree that stopped it.  Burned the trees and grass clear.  That somehow was a blessing cuz there was a Lexus on one side of the truck and another "nice car" as she puts it, on the other side.  If it hadn't shorted out and driven itself up the hill, them cars woulda been toast and it woulda been my mom's :moon: payin for em!!!

its POSSESSED!  How did the starter circuit short?  theres a recall right now on some fords (that looks like a Ranger to me...) because the cruise control circuit shorts out causing a fire.  Any chance the cruise started the fire and the melted insulation on the starter circuit allowed the starter wires to short, then causing the vehicle to roll into the tree if it was left in gear?

Just a thought...

Yeah that's possible.  All I know is what my stepdad told me.  It was parked in gear (stick obviously), took bout 4 hours for it to ignite and short out the starter, started the truck and it drove itself up the hill.  Totally wierd  :suprised:  :headscratch:  :hammer:  :dunno:

have it checked out.  if it's under the recall and that cruise circuit started the fire, Ford might pony up some cashola for you...

You could use it to fix up the amigo  :eyebrow:

Well, it'a Ford. It had to happen sooner or later. Get that recall checked on and see what kind of settlement you may be able to get. That is if you can prove it was the defective part (recalled part) that started the fire and not a faulty part you put on or your stepdad put on. Good luck!

I think I didnt read all of your opening post, are you saying that the truck went into a Cranking mode and since it was in gear at the time, the starter powered the truck and rammed it into the tree, after which the windings in the starter got hot enough to melt the insulation off of the main hot wire to the starter, and thus creating a fire that consumed the front of the truck, right?

Wow, that is crazy!!!!! I am glad no one got hurt!! That would have really sucked if it ran into a Lexus or something and then caught both of them on fire :yikes:

Sorry about my misunderstanding, I sometimes do that :slap:

So does your home owners or something cover the loss? :crossed:

Thats some really weird :pokinit:! Crazy possesed ford truck. You should be able to get something from Ford about that, that really shouldnt have happened. I'd contact an insurance company about it and have them try to light a fire under Fords :moon: They will most likely throw ya some money at you and make ya sign a paper to keep your mouth shut. But hey money is good  Still blows my mind :yikes: would have been a site to see.

No it caught fire which shorted out the starter, sending it into cranking mode and up the hill.  Fire happened BEFORE it started and moved itself :headscratch: But yes our angels were workin over time, it did melt the lenses on one of the cars though, the side marker and front turn signal/parking lights :yikes: and bubbled the paint... mom guesses bout $2500 worth of damage on a new car like that
