help gauge is not working!!

anyone know why my 85 SR5 fuel gauge is not working? is it the electrical or the gauge it self? any help appreciated.

It could be the gauge or it could be the sender in the tank...

The Sender is grounded just behind the passenger's side kicker panel up front (a WHITE-BLACK wire), and the signal wire for the fuel sender is a YELLOW-RED wire. The Inst. Cluster has it's own ground, and if it was bad then nothing would work, so don't worry about the ground there.

Also, you might want to check the line that runs from the tank and up into the cab. Did a rock hit it? Did it melt when you were welding on some rock sliders or something? :crossed:

:smack:  and here i thought he said his "help guage"  wasnt working :headscratch:  i was trying to figure out where that guage was :eyecrazy:  dont think i have one :smack:

Did  you put gas in it?  :rofl2:
   Easy  wasy to check a sender is to grab a volt meter  and  put it on OHMs  and move the sender arm up and down.  and to check the gauge  ground out the wire on the sender  the fuel gauge should pin full.   O and check  the  fusse  going to the fuel gauge flux capacitor  :psss:
