axle code

i was wondering what gear i have in my truck its a 91 pickup 22re the axle code is G292. can somebody tell me what it is

The gear code is circle in red and is G292, which indicates an 8" rear diff with 4.10 gears and a 2 pinion carrier.

I keep thinking that we should have a sticky on axle codes.  If I can find my chart I'll post up the most popular codes.

ok, according to that axle chart, G292 is a limited-slip diff...is that correct? My 84 has the same axle code...BTW, whats the C/TR is right above the axle/trans code?

negative chief, if it said G293 or G295 it would be limited slip.  If it ends in an odd # it's limited slip, even is open diff.  C=color code, tr=trim code I think.

it does look like it says G-292 is an 4:10 LSD = lLimited-Slip Differencial.  so the chart must be backwards
