Repairing mounting tab on instrument cluster?
« on: Sep 08, 2005, 07:00:54 PM »
I just scored an SR5 instrument cluster for my non SR5 Runner.  It's in excellent condition except for the bottom right mounting tab is broken.  I'm sure it happened in shipping (the box was crushed).  Can it be glued or epoxied with good results?  Has anyone done this?  It was insured so the sender could submit a claim, but I would rather keep it if it can be fixed.

Plastic bond, it's about $5 at a parts store, comes with a little glass bottle of pre-treater and a crazy glue size tube of adhesive.  It works pretty well for me, but I'm sure there is an epoxy out there that works better.  I've also used kitty hair fiberglass and it works to build up around the repair, but you hafta scuff all surfaces real well first.

You could hit a good hobby/Radio control shop, they carry some sick strong CA (badass super glue) that WONT come back apart.

Thanks guys.  That's a good idea about the hobby store.  Just might try that.

  I bought that Miracle Glue at the LA Fair and have glued a butt-load of stuff, that glue is awesome.  Super-wazoo glue should be all you need.
