:help: I took my truck on its first drive since I built it and it deffinatly has some issues I hope you guys can help with.

   Problem number 1:
I put a 22re short block in it when I did the build and I know that they run tight for a little while, but this one worrys me. I can only run up to 3rd gear @ 4000 rpm, once I hit 4th I loose power. In all geers the motor feels tightest between 1800-2300rpm and shutter some. Once I hit about 2500-3000rpm it frees up, smooths out, and I have decent power.  :headscratch:

   Problem number 2:
I ran 3rd gear for a while at about 4000rmp, then stoped to check for leaks and such. Noticed that it had gotten a little hot, so I let it cool for a few. Taking off the motor had a distinct miss all the way up through 3rd and serious lack in power. Then down shifting into high rpm it sputtered and coughed a bit. I dropped it to idle and brought it back up through 3rd again with only the symptoms in problem 1 except for a temp higher than normal. I checked the radiator level after it cooled and heard a bubble clear, but it still runs hot.

Hope you guys can hook me up with some ideas so I can join you all at the Con on the 16th to BREAK this thing in right.

Ok guys. The over heating problem was an air bubble. But I am still having trouble getting this engine to run right. In oder to get up to speed you really have to feather out the throttle. To much gas causes the pinging and sputtering, sometimes kills it. I checked the timming and its good. So now my question is, what are the most common causes of flooding in a 22re? I am going to go through the vacume lines and intake tomorrow with carb cleaner. Anyone have any air/fuel trouble like this before that can drop some ideas my way would be appreciated. Thanks

sounds like your motors not getting fuel. hows your oxygen sensor? this is how my truck acted w/o an oxygen sensor

I havent looked at the O2 sensor since I got the truck, I will check it out tomorrow. Shoot this could be one of alot of things at this point. I am thinking this one is going to be intake or fuel pump related. Good looking out Skinny, I doubt I would have looked in that direction for a while man. :beerchug:

Have you checked for any error codes?

ditto... the first thing you should do with any computer controlled injected engine is scan it for codes before touching anything.
You win some, you lose some.

No I havent, I will pick up a reader from kragen today and let you all know how it goes.

:shake: Well guys, after 200 bucks, Curtis at Rock-n-Roll Off Road made me feel pretty stupid. I had the cam out sync with the crank so when I timed it, it looked good, but it was way off. He did a quick valve adjustment and drilled out my intake valve too. So, heres to burning off 37's for 40 feet after almost stalling in 2nd.  :beerchug:
