So where can I buy some "export use only" amps?

Whoa...late reply...

Search the net:

CANDYMAN ELECTRONICS
CHARLIE 3 ELECTRONICS
DAVE MADE
TEXAS STAR

You should get some 'hits'...

Get a Texas Star 350 HDV or a Texas Star 667...very good amps.  Not that power hungry either.  Make sure your charging system is in good working order, your antenna is in tune, and your radio is dewatted/ tuned too...

Ask locals where you're at for a good 'doctor', one who can fix up radios.

These guys are spposed to be bad-a$$::

Charging system is working great, brand new alternator.

Radio already has almost everything done to it; peaked, tuned, talk back, echo, etc.

Our "doctor" around here is a hell of a guy.  Example, he peaked and tuned my buddies cheapie Uniden pro, the radio fried, he gave him a Cobra 19 to replace it.  We could not get his SWR's down no matter how hard we tried, he gave him two brand new antennas and brand new coax.  He gave me sound filters/supressors and external speakers for free (still in package) just for bringing him business.

Ebay has a lot of linear's but watch out for cheapys man

Tuning for SWR with a linear can be a bastarb, just get your SWR as good and you can with your radio only, then hook into your linear

Also for runnin a amp youll want to dead key like 2W and have some good swing, let that amp get you out.
