:help:        In my 86 4-runner I just installed a 92 motor with 87 EFI on it.  I never had these problems until I did the swap.  For some reason every now and then at random times it will die and you can smell fuel,  I started to play around with it and found the only way to re-start it after it dies is to; under the hood manually open the throttle pulley to wide open several times then it will start.  Not even giving it full throttle from the gas peddle works.  Also when it rains or is really cold out side it does not seem to fire right, by this I mean as I am accelerating it will act like a dog almost as if two cylinders weren't firring and then all of a sudden it will kick in like a power band and go.
                    Thanks

sounds like a tps or a mass air flow problems to me. thake the cap off of the air box and clean out the insides then make sure and seal it up tight. and are you getting any engine codes cause that will most likly tell you if there is a problem with the tps

Engine codes?  My heck engine light comes on when its about to die, and also if I am crusing below 3000 rpm and hold steady throttle the check engine light comes on so i rev it and then it shuts off.       :dunno:
