ALRIGHT. MY WIFE BOUGHT A 91 RUNNER TODAY WITH REAR LOCKER  . I'VE ALREADY STARTED THE SAS BUT I DON'T HAVE A CLUE ABOUT LIFTING THE REAR END. DOES ANY ONE MAKE A 3 - 5" KIT WITH FLEX ? ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED...

i built a 92 in placerville using a leaf spring swap, but before we did that, he ran a 4 inch pro comp coil and track bar set up, it sucked ass- so we went with a 56 inch alcan spring pack, abd threw the coiuls at the shed!!

they can be, but to get them to work properly, you need reengineer the current design on the runner, to something that was designed to flex. this could be a bit spendy, leaf springs are cheap, strong as hell, and very easy to set up right, and in most case, offer as much, or more flex than a properly set up coil system---justy my opinion, and im sure most of ours also, but experiment, do what looks cool or fun, just be safe!! :beerchug:

I'm using ford f150 leafs. I gained my lift by notching into the factory trailing arm mount and welding a leaf spring hanger into it. This spaced the hanger down from the frame. The f150 springs flex awesome on this heavy 4runner. I'd post up a pic, but I was too busy driving on the con this year, and nobodies forked over any pics yet.

Dude, square tube stinger...different, yet beefy and mad max...I LIKE!
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5

I still say you can simply see how well an f-150 pack will flex by watching static droop on an f-150.  I've lifted them on a hoist at work many a time and watched as the rear, under the weight of just the axle assy, would droop quite an amazing amount.  That and the fact that they are already 57" long, just right!

The ones I've noticed to be the best were the pre 97 body style f-150.  The 97 and later appear the same but don't seem to droop as much.  Oh, and they were all 2wd.  I asked my parts guys how much some new ones were I believe for 96 model year, and they listed something like seven different packs, based on wheelbase and payload and such.  The 2wd short box were the ones I saw droop the most.

ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED... yes i did the first one with marlins front springs ,we used procomp 4 springs  in the rear we made our own rear hangars 4 the shackles but marlin had some made that work great -get ahold of cruiser dave he has pics the rear was very busy with all the junk
it  had more flex with open diffs on marlins ramp than a locked up pickup as cruzrdave about lupe's 4 runner he can set u up with most everything u will need he also has pictures of it on the ramp and off
use the bilstien shocks they are awsome-gotta go but later if u have questions get ahold of dave or e-mail grumpy  at grumpy1@netptc.net

Definetly 2wd, 2 1/2" wide springs. 85 and up have teflon pads.
Here's my old pickup with 150's all around.

i dont know about the f150 springs but the ones ive seen with these springs have problems in the pavement -they lean in the corners -i use the long pro comp springs with marlins up front with bilstien shocks  -and u can drive it like a sports car under steer is not a problem with this set up but like i said i dont know about the f150 springs -i would never put a ford part on a toyota :moon:  :haha:  :beerchug:  :_oops:  :flamer:  :moon:  :moon:  :moon:  :moon:  :moon:  :moon:  :moon:

You're right, they are soft, and I forgot to mention that I also used 2" add a leafs. That firmed it up so the mirrors don't drag the ground around corners.
