exo cages in general
« on: Jul 19, 2005, 06:45:36 AM »
Ok guys now we are getin to the nitty gritty.
What size pipe do you guys use for the frames?
What type of pipe? Seamless? Cold drawn ? Dom?
How much out from the body should i keep the exo??
I havent seen 1 in aus where i live so needd all the help i can.
Where so you guys mount too the chassis?
what happens with body flex and chassis mounted as in exo hitting the shell of the body ?
Thanks again

You will find people making them out of all sizes.
1.75 x .120 DOM or HREW is very popular.
Some like the 1.6 shedule 40 pipe style, very hard and rigid, tougher to dent than tube, but also heavier.
They look better the closer you can keep them to the body, yes there is the possibility of the cab bumping the exo in a roll, deal or add an inch of clearance.
The clearance may save your body, but it will also look worse, and create more drag on the road.
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
