Taking the family for a camping/4wheeling week around the Lassen area in August. Wanted to hear from some folks who know the area if there are any particular areas that are a must see or avoid. Don't know the area at all, and would appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance

are you talking about between Reno and Susanville on 89? dont know if theres any wheeling but every time we drive by there on the way to or from Reno we always say we should check it out. Looks like a nice area.

Yes there are some killer trails to be had in the area, I just got back from there this past Sunday.

I stayed around Lake Almanor, and found some great places to wheel between there and Mt. Lassen. I'm having the pics developed , and will post asap.

Pull into the town of chester near the corner of hwy 89 and hwy 36 and go to the US forest service for OHV maps etc...

hopefully most of the snow will be melted by then on mt. lassen, but it wasn't when I was there, there were 20-30 ft drifts still up there and most of the high mountain lakes were still frozen.

Later, today when I get back from detailing a porsche, I'll send some more info.......

Highly recommend visiting McArthur-Burney Falls State Park. Can camp there too. It's not far from the town of Burney.
