Wraith, Cool Pics.
Always fun to wheel with the dedicated & fearless. Your rig is well built and seemingly indestructable.
I'm really glad we ran the Holcomb Trail, it made the weekend well worth it.
It was the most beautiful scenery around, the weather was perfect, and the crawlin' was challenging and fun.
I'm ready anytime.

Thanks for the link, I knew I took the pic.  :shake: You can see the limiting strap/brake line in your first shot. Bing!
I sent a link to Chris, post up Chris!

Yup. That's next on my list. Extended brake lines. It was a fun run, didn't take forever with just 5 rigs which was good. Gotta do it again soon!!!

Those pics in Holcomb Creek? Myself and my club were up there and did Holcomb Creek, those rocks grew or something from last year. I beat the crap out of my crossmember on those rocks.

That first rock garden when you come east to west has gotten alot rougher from last year, all the rain & snow. The water running through the trail didn't help, it made getting traction really tough. I beat my sliders pretty good trying to get through that spot.

Yah, my doors are scraping the sliders.
Here's a couple more.
Chris took these. I asked him to send more of everybody.

Hey Rocksurfer, I just checked out your club BB and saw that you were the actual winner of the Turtle Race at HDR. I was the one that won it because you DQ'd cause you weren't registered. My time was just under 17 min for the lap. It took me 3 tries to get that time and I was ticked cause I couldn't even come close to your time but I'm only at 180:1 or so. Sorry you got DQ'd, I was really surprised when they called my name as 1st place, I thought I had second. Dennis

The funny thing is I was a registered participant, just not in the rig that we did the crawl in. I went to the organizers and have filed a protest because of that, plus we asked before we even did it. We were told it was fine and that they were not checking registrations to play the games. We came early enough that we were able to run the course severl times to get the correct lines so that we didn't get stuck and DQ on the course. We felt pretty secure when we ran 18:52 on the course. I guess politics come into play everywhere.

If you read the whole tread we threw down the guantlet for next year to all our club members to do the Turtle Race next year, we have some other rigs that will definatly challenge even the 18:52 that Turtle Truck ran.  The event coordinator did agree with my position that if we were to loose due to the vehicle being unregistered and I was registered that they were going to discuss and may reinstate our time, but personally I think it was just lip service. They did originally call us up but then DQ'ed us. :headscratch:

Good to see someone from here ended up with the trophy.

We did win a couple 1st place trophy's in other events there though, my son won the egg race and the telephone directory lookup race.

It was just a little event at HDR called the turtle race. Nothing formal, you just tried to go as slow as possible. Of course the toyotas won.

It still ticks me off that you made it up that slab and I didn't  :rivers:  If I would have kept trying we would have been tipping my rig back onto it's wheels :stomp: dang wheelbase  :wall:

What that slab? I've driven up that slab with my IFS 4Runner. Wasn't that hard.

It depends on what line you take. If you look at the pic of the XJ the line that I tried was more to the right, nearly straight up and down. My inclometer said it was 40+ degrees. My right tire came way off and for a second my whole front end was in the air. Rockhound has got about 10" more wheelbase on me so he just walked right up it.

Looked something like this, does look a little deeper than it was when we did it.

The line I tried was about 5 ft to your right, it's pretty much straight up and down.

Heck I put all my tickets in for the winches. Everything else was pretty much set up for jeeps, which is understandable since there were only a handful of other types of rigs there. I still had a lot of fun. I went looking for you but Al said you went antique shopping  :reg:  sucks cause holcomb was alot of fun.

That guy was camped right next to us, his buddy had a white one that was built alot more than that one. The brown one is from Canada and had , I believe, a 1.6L diesel and got 30 miles to the gallon!!! The white one was imported from Japan and was a passenger side drive and had the same engine. unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the white one.  :smack:
