Any ideas for a cheap sway bar ?

I've got a 83 4x4 with 2" spring lift, and 1.5" lift on the shackles. looking for a way to put a sway bar on the rear with out spending a bunch of $$$ any ideas on what mite work on the rear of a 83 4x4 short bed with a lift would be very helpful! :up:

Some random thoughts:

I suppose it would be best to weld the end links directly to the axle tubes rather than trying to weld on a shock (whoops hehe)

If you weel often, you might want to use some end links that dissconnect via a pin or something..

Im sure someone has done this with exact information, but...
Measure the width of your frame rails in the front about directly above your front axle, and then add a couple of inches, maybe 6", then hit the yards and search through large sports cars, like older Toyota Supras, or some Ugly sports cars like some Trans Ams, Firebirds, and any other mid-80s American lead sleds for the right width bar...

Remember that your truck's Center of Gravity is higher than that of the sports car, so your truck will experience more body roll then these sports cars, so the heavier the car, hopefully the larger dia the sway bar is, and thats better for your truck...

You car get threaded bars from www.McMaster.com to use for the end links, but I hear they are weak and might bend under high loads..

Use some hyme- (wow, Ive never spelled this word in my life) joints that thread onto your threaded end links, and since they are threaded, they are thus adjustable and preloadable...
