More spring crap

I was thinking you could take some chevys redrill the main leaf a new hole 2-3" back then the second 1-2" back and the others just move um back so the holes line up would this work? I just thoght it would help a little on departure angle. If some one could show me a pic of these off the truck mabe I could get a better idea

Toyota Springs are set up with more spring in the rear of the axle, and less in the frount. I believe this is done to help cut down on spring wrap.

 When I put in Mazda springs I also put a traction bar in to cut down on wrap. The more spring you put i frount of the axle, the more wrap you will get since the shackle will let the spring come forward.

 This is just my idea, I have no scientific evidence to support my findings.

teah that makes allot of sense now that I think of it sounds like to much trouble fo barly any thing. By the way know anything about F150s?

F150 or Bronco will work they are the same. I used 80-86 they are fairly flat but hold weight well.

seriously though,  I guess you could re-drill them, although I've never felt the need to on mine. I figure once I put the 37's on it won't matter that much since the bigger tires will change the angle quite a bit (compared to my 33's right now....)

Also don't forget that redrilling would relocate the axle in the fenderwell, not to mention you would have to adjust the driveline. (unless of course you have the long slip already...)

HE He he, dont have to worry about that with no bed :up:
Also what happens when you take the traction leaf out? Wheel hop and axle wrap? Because with no bed those might be alittle stiff.

Now could you not just make the spring perch longer and redrill that to locate it  forward without screwing with the leaves, I know its been done....

That would be better than drilling springs. Drilling spring steel is not fun

I know some guys that are using chevy springs..they don't like them..w/flat bed not enough weight.one guy has the bottom support leaf in and the other does not.I think he one with out that leaf has way more flex.Both are set upthe same..I'd go to the jusnk yard with soem mesurements in had and take a look around.Thats what I have done.Take a leaf here,take a leaf there.Its more work but I think the end result is mush better than anything you will buy..
