Seems to be a really common move. Yeah my tires hit the fenderwell. How do I move the axle forward?
I have an 84 pickup w/solid axle and a 3" spring lift.
Do I have to lengthen the drive shaft w/ this move?
What parts are needed?
Can I drill new holes in my existing springs.
Thanks.

But your bumper on 2 trees and have you friend with the diesel superduty hook a chain to your axle and floor it in 4low.

No serously you can do different spring perches 1.5" forward or you can get springs with an offset hole 1.5" forward.

 :idea:Just redrill the spring perches on the axle housing. Mark it forward and be careful to get them the same. You will also have to drill the ubolt plate.

good luck

RS 44044 will move your front axle about 1-1/2 forward. A while back I redrilled a few of the springs for my spring pack a 1-1/2 forward, works great but they were crappy springs.

44044's will NOT move your axle AT ALL, the length to the center pin is the SAME as toyota...

now if you move your hanger forward and put 44044's on it will.

Lengthening the driveline is a given..

I don't run 44044, I came across this a while back. Marlins 94 truck has them. I'll take some frame points and compare them to my truck. Hard to say with no weight on them but then the same can be said for the OEM spring.

If that pic was right the 44044's would be shorter, uh huh..

they are 2" longer at the shackle end, same dist at the hanger end so when ya bolt em on they shackles sit back but the axle doesn't move..

Just seems like mounting the 3" end to the front will move it forward. I know once there is wieght on the springs they will flating out a bit. Alot of people like these springs. I don't know if I would pay $169.78 each(4wheel parts) and not have my axle forward.

It seems that way to me too dave, maybe brandon was saying the factory front is the 2.75 wide end :dunno: but yes using the 3" wide end will move it forward. a little more too because of the lift of the spring makes the opposite leg of the triangle even shorter. When my skyjacker rears wear or break I will go 44044 too.

The ONLY way a 44044 will move your axle forward is if you build a new crossmember further forward since the distance to the center pin is the same on teh 44044 as the toyota..

The other end is a lot longer so if you flipped it they would be further toward the firewall, not further from it..

with no weight you can see I have shackle angle cause of the longer springs

bad pic but you can see I made a front crossmember IN FRONT of the old one, to move the springs forward..

I just moved my front axle forward last night 1.5".  Took about 2 hours.  I've got a Cruiser axle with the Dodge perches for SOA.  The perches already have holes 1.5" offset.  Once the u-bolt plates were off, I supported the truck by the springs, and "slid" the axle over to the side to get the drill positioned.  Didn't even need to drop the d-shaft or steering or anything.  Drilled two corresponding holes in the plates and reinstalled everything.  I only torqued to 70 ftlbs last night tho, so gotta get back in there and finish that tonight or tomorrow.

Hardest part was trying to hang onto the 1/2" Milw Holeshooter when it would catch and twist....

I would have taken less time, but the stereo in my wife's MGB quit and I had to tear the console out to get it working again.....

I put my factory toy rears in the front when I put the Chevys in. This moved the axle forward about 1.5"~2". I have noticed they settled quite a bit after I beat on them, but I have it on good authority that a two stage add-a-leaf will get the lift back without affecting the articulation. They do flex like mad though and my tires don't even come close to hitting.

Just drill new pin locator holes in the perches and plates.
27-AT, some other adapter, flipped D300, twin sticks on cables.

CORRECT
THE REARS OFF A 4X4 YOTA WILL MOVE THE FRONT FORWARD ABOUT 1.5" WITH NO OTHER MODS BUT YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME ISSUE'S WITH CROSSOVER STEER IF YOU HAVE IT THE DRAG AND TIE ROD TEND TO BE RIGHT OVER EACH OTHER. THERE FOR HITTING WHEN YOU FLEX BIG.
