what do you mean by cross over, im kinda a yota virgin

WHITE_TRASH

Crossover steering puts both your tierod and draglink above the springs.  When you move the axle forward (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!) the drag link becomes too short.  So its best to convert to a ifs steering box and go crossover steering.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??

and the rears up front will give ya a little more droop than the stock steering can handle

thebigl2005

I have so pics I have been trying to post but for some reason when I go to submit it never goes though, like it takes forever to load the pictures I got

thebigl2005

also i want to go 35, But i dont have the money to re-gear. So i had planned on going 33s untill I could afford it, but some people are tellin me just go 35s and then gear it as soon as possible

crawlerdan

i run 33s with no gear mods, um, your gonna want to gear it asap :yesnod:

thebigl2005

Well i think I'm going to just go 33s cause i don't know how long it will be till i rear gear, i do work at shucks.

thebigl2005

had a guy come into my store tonight and offered me 32inch pro comp mudders plus rims, and a full bed for 500 bucks, so i think i found my tires for now

toybuilt

I ran 35's on a stock geared 83 toy it wasn't that bad, you get used to driving with them. It doesn't heart your cluch to much if you use it right.

sorry, I've been kinda busy with work and I'm trying to start a business. Well my clutch is kinda weird, it catches right when you let it off just a little bit, I think if i bleed the system it would work allot better. One thing I'm worried about is my gears, someone told me it would fry em?

toybuilt

The only thing you would fry is your clutch, and thats only if your mean to it.

Yes regear and lock it. Get some cryo treated longfeild birfeilds if you can't affrord chromo ones.
If you lock it up front you are gonna need stronger than stock birf's.

I dunno bud tire deals come and go all the time I think you should hold out. After you get them 32's you won't be happy and want bigger.

im running 35's and stock gears it isnt to bad

thebigl2005

yea, cause i have the money for the tires and the lift, but it might be like a month till i can get my gears, but I'm worried it might screw something up like me drive line or such.

I have finally decided with 5;29's and I'm thinkin about a spindle (not to sure what the right name for it) in the rear and a locker up front, but i would have to go back and do that after the re-gear

crawlerdan

thebigl2005

It might not be called a spool, that what was said to me I think it might be a spindle? not to sure, its like welding the gears.

Yea, does anyone have an opinion on them? Because I've heard that they work great, then I have heard that there not good if you drive you car everyday.

Can I fit 35s with only a five inch lift?

thebigl2005

toybuilt, what do you have done to your yota, very nice

Well I had built up 22r, w56 tranny, dual cases with a 4.7. For axles I have (but there for sale) a narrowed Dana 44 in front and Dana 60 Toyota hybrid in rear. I have a 2 inch body lift and a 6 inch suspension lift, that includes 64 inch Chevy leafs in rear and rancho 44044 wagonnears in front. I have 36x12.50x15 inch TSL's.

I'm putting in a Dana 60 and 14 bolt with a 4.3 Chevy v6.

You should be fine with 35's and a 5 inch lift. A spool does work great and they don't cost as much as a detriot, but they do tear up your tires more when you go around corners. Spools have no give its just like if you welded it up.

thebigl2005

well see I'm not thinkin of just to start off go with a six inch lift, on 33s. Then rear gear and lock up fornt and rear.

thebigl2005

my bad i meant im now thinkin off starting...

but anyways whats your thoughts about tires. I heard so many things about different ones i dont know. I was just going to go with bfg mudders.
