Almost ready for Dusy-Ershim, just finished modifying my new crossmember. I forgot to take before pictures but here's the finished project. I would have painted it black but my son rules (will be his truck when he's old enough even though he already is driving it at 11 yrs. old) he wanted red so, it's red. If you can see it there is a section of round tube, that section used to go up and over the tcase and driveshaft, well since it is not the original trans & t-case the driveshaft was banging against it on deceleration so it had to go. I cut it off, ran a new support for the skidplate for the tcase then moved the bar under the driveshaft.

Nice Pics, Rocksurfer!

My first rig was a 81 Longbed SR5.  I was about 18 when I sold it because I built a 67 Bronco and I had a car.  Big mistake.  Great memories in that old truck :gap:

I grew up going over Elephant Hill, it's cool to see some picture that look familiar.  When my truck had a 3-1/2 inch lift and 32 inch BFGs I did Elephant Hill, Cliff Hanger, Golden Spike (I saw in your pictures that you did part of this trail on the Poison Spider trip) and Metal Masher (didn't do Widow Maker Hill).  Great pictures!
1989 4Runner: Dual Ultimate (Inchworm front & Marlin 4.70 rear), Marlin Twin Stick, 1200-lb clutch, 4.88 R&P, Aussie Front, Detroit rear, 30-spline Longs, Long hub gears, ARP hub and knuckle studs & 35x12.50 Cooper STT PRO tires.  Marlin rear bumper & sliders.  FROR front bumper.  SAS with Alcan springs & Rancho 9000XL shocks.  Budbuilt Bolt-on traction bar.  Custom Interior Cage by Those Guys Rod and Customs.

I know the feeling, looking at pictures and videos of all the places I've been, just sturs something inside.

Ok kiddies, just got back from Sierra National Forest (Dusy-Ershim) and have some new pics and some new damage. My club did Swamp, Coyote, Bald Mountain and a portion of the Dusy. The Dusy Ershim trail is open from end to end, but even as we were travelling on the trail we heard a tree fall and had one fall across our path. Here's a few pictures of Swamp and Coyote, I took my truck far beyond its capabilities and it showed on Swamp. I really beat my truck on the trail, hit my right fender on a tree root...... you heard me a tree root, broke my left shock mount, seized my left shock and smoked my clutch. So guess what's on my christmas list? :turtle:  On Coyote I had the most fun even without my left shock. It was a great day even though I picked up a rock inside my tire bead and it slowly flattened my tire. We fixed it during our break at Coyote Lake and then went back the way we came. I also beat on my new crossmember and it is no longer that pretty red color, it held up good under the stress but the paint is now scarred. Anyways here are the pics:

One more.....

....and the damage:

I got real lucky with that shock mount, I've seen where it rips a piece of the frame off with it...... I guess the guy that welded it on was having a bad day and didn't have the power high enough.

Ok, I cut the remaining oem shock tower off yesterday and did some mock-up on where I am going to put the new extended towers that I got from Marlin. Looked pretty good with those bright red shocks I have, (don't ask) I won't be able to weld them until the shop opens on Tuesday. Once I get them on I'll post some pics. I don't think anyone cares to see a picture of where the old tower used to be. :talkingn:

Ok, I got some good work done on my truck today. I now have my new shock hoops on and my new shocks on too. Turned out pretty good, I even think it has more flex to it. I took it out in the dark so I couldn't see how much more but I'll check it again tomorrow and maybe even post a few poser shots. Anyways here are some shots of my new set up with Marlin's shock hoops:
