I'm currently working on my son's 89 truck, we're going to install gear drive transfer with crawler gears but I can't figure out how to disassemble the gear drive transfer case. Seem's like shifting fork and rod might be problem. Am I suppose to drive the pins out of shifting rods? I have the back part off but can't separate the front from the center. I haven't purchased a manual for this transfer yet and am looking for some help. :smack:

yes, you are going to need to remove those roll pins from the shift rods.

I suggest you buy Marlins gears which come with some directions...

also, its best to have everything there as opposed to tearing it apart, leaving it on the bench for a couple weeks, then coming back to reassemble it all.

have fun!

not sure what the 89 uses, but nearly the same - they aren't much different unless it is a chain drive
